Starting Monday, Oct. 20, both northbound and southbound travelers will hit a snag between Jefferson Highway and Riverside Drive. One lane in each direction will be shut down daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., stretching on until Nov. 7, 2025. The Jefferson Parish Government says this temporary inconvenience is all in the name of progress: the roadway is set for a resurfacing makeover.
Negotiating the closures will be part of the daily grind for many during these hours, and motorists are advised to heed the guidance of flagmen. Ironically, for those seeking a less complicated commute, adjacent side streets will serve as a detour. Weather permitting, these road improvements come with a promised end date on Nov. 7, according to the same official notice.
So while we're detoured around the construction, remember it's for a smoother sail down the road.
