For San Diego County voters eager to cast their ballots ahead of November's special election, the Registrar of Voters has opened a constellation of official ballot drop boxes across the region.
Starting today, over 140 red, white, and blue ballot boxes bearing the Registrar’s logo and the County seal are ready for business. These sturdy steel guardians of democracy are engineered with anti-tampering features, including double-locking doors and anti-pry measures to keep votes safe. The boxes are labeled “Official Ballot Drop Box” and made from high-grade, heavy-gauge stainless steel, as detailed by the County of San Diego.
Voting in person commenced this Monday at the Kearny Mesa Registrar of Voters office, but with the mailed ballots reaching the county's 2 million registered voters this week, many may opt for the mailed convenience.
On the other side of the coin, for those who relish the tactile joy of in-person voting with an early edge, select vote centers are popping up starting October 25, open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, ramping up November 1, when all centers will spring to action, "Early voting began Monday at the Registrar of Voters office in Kearny Mesa," according to the County of San Diego, the Registrar’s office is open from 8 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday.
The local spotlight of the special election focuses notably on Proposition 50, a constitutional amendment tied to redistricting. Poway's Council District 2 residents will have the final say on whether to keep their sitting council member or show them the door. "Voters who reside in the City of Poway’s Council District 2 will have an additional question on their ballot," as reported by the County of San Diego.
