ABC News reported the dog, unfamiliar with the treacherous terrain, lost its footing and ended up stranded 40 feet below the cliff's edge.
The San Francisco Fire Department's cliff rescue team was quick on the scene, with crews from Station 19 executing what they referred to as a low-angle rescue to secure the 40-pound canine. They confirmed the dog's safety and jubilant reunion with its owner, per the San Francisco Police.

Yet, evidencing the routine bravery that typifies their work, as they contend with similar situations multiple times in these coastal areas, prompting a reminder from the Rescue Captain Samuel Menchaca, who echoed the importance of staying on marked paths, "You may think that it’s a little berm or a hill, but it is a significant drop," he told ABC News.
