The National Weather Service San Francisco (NWS) has warned about "cool and windy conditions through the weekend" before a gale-force low-pressure system makes its way down the West Coast starting Monday. An official statement from NWS San Francisco advises residents to clean out gutters, secure loose outdoor items, and properly store outdoor items sensitive to rain and/or wind during the weekend, as the brief period of respite.

According to the NWS San Francisco, between Monday and Wednesday, the incoming storm is "forecast to bring widespread rainfall totals of one inch with locally higher totals of two to three inches in the higher terrain." Inhabitants of lower elevations should expect 1-2 inches of rain, while 2-4 inches are anticipated in higher elevations. Residents living near the Santa Cruz Mountains and Big Sur Coast, which are predicted to receive "the most rainfall," should particularly take heed. This weather system also encompasses "a chance for thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday," and with any thunderstorms, there's the potential risk for lightning and flash flooding.

Marine conditions look equally rough, with the NWS San Francisco alerting that "northerly winds will steadily increase this morning across our southern waters." A Gale Warning is already in effect in some coastal areas, and moderate to strong winds are expected to build rough seas through Sunday. Boaters and coastal residents should be on high alert and take precautions ahead of the unsettled weather pattern anticipated for the first half of the week. Moreover, coming next week, driving conditions could become hazardous due to increased rain and wind; thus, extra caution is advised.
