The San José Police Department is currently delving into the circumstances surrounding the city's 22nd homicide case of the year, following the discovery of a deceased woman in her home on Wainwright Drive. The investigation was triggered on Sunday after the victim's son reported a suspicious situation at approximately 2:49 AM to the police. Officers who responded to the call found signs of trauma on the adult female victim's body, indicating a violent death. As it stands, no details regarding her identity have been shared, pending the outcome of an examination by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner, as per the San José Police Department.
The case swiftly moved forward as Homicide Detectives tagged Venko Gospodinov as the main suspect. To swiftly locate Gospodinov, the detectives took advantage of automated license plate recognition (ALPR) data. The data suggested he may have been in the Capitola area, prompting them to alert nearby agencies. Following this lead, California Highway Patrol officers were able to apprehend Gospodinov in Capitola, taking him into custody without further ado. He was later transferred to the San José Police Department and then booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on murder charges.
