Tragedy struck on a San José street corner as the city faced its 31st traffic death of the year in a multi-vehicle collision that resulted in one fatality and left another person in critical condition. Last Saturday, around 2:35 PM, the San José Police Department responded to a call near Foxworthy Avenue and Jarvis Avenue, where a white GMC Yukon and a green Subaru Forester collided, sending the GMC into oncoming traffic, where it crashed head-on into a blue Honda CR-V. According to the San José Police Department's press release, the female driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the male driver of the GMC was attempting to pass the Subaru on the right when the collision occurred. This mistake led to the Yukon colliding with the Subaru and consequently spinning into the opposite lane, striking the Honda. As reported by the San José Police Department, while the Subaru's driver emerged unscathed, the male driver of the GMC sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition at a local hospital. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement calls upon anyone with information to come forward.

Authorities are urging the public to help shed light on this tragedy by providing any relevant information they may have. Detective DelliCarpini of the San José Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit can be contacted via email at [email protected] or by phone at 408-277-4654.
