
A fatal crash occurred yesterday morning in Fort Lauderdale when a scooter rider was struck by a garbage truck, according to law enforcement. The incident happened around 8 a.m. in the 2400 block of South Federal Highway, Local 10 reported. Fort Lauderdale Police and Fire Rescue teams responded to the scene.
The crash led to the closure of a major intersection, causing traffic diversions around State Road 84 and South Federal Highway. During the closure, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue posted on X advising drivers to use alternate routes.

The victim, whose identity had not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene, NBC Miami reported. The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s traffic homicide unit is investigating the incident. No arrests have been made as of the latest updates.
