Putting sustainability front and center, reclaimed granite was mixed with clean dirt and used to mend and stabilize the city's roads. Despite the damages, the Indian Bend Wash near Indian School Road, an area known for flood susceptibilities, stood up to its design by channeling the water safely through the city. Facilities like Scottsdale Stadium, which caught nearly three inches of rain in a matter of hours, witnessed flooded fields and dugouts. WestWorld, another venue impacted by the flooding, ensured that the Best of the West Reining show could begin on schedule, thanks to its staff's effort over the weekend to divert water and drain arenas.
Damage at Eldorado Park was more extensive, prompting the city to close ballfields and a playground until further notice.
