Attention to all legal eagles and justice advocates in Shelby County: the window to apply for a critical role within the judicial system just got extended. If you were stressing about missing the deadline to throw your hat into the ring for the position of Judicial Commissioner for the Division of General Sessions Court, you now have a few more days to make your move. In an update from the Shelby County Board of Commissioners, the application period now stretches until October 7.
The original deadline was looming, but in a turn of events, the county has decided to grant prospective candidates more time to carefully prepare and to submit their applications. According to the Board of Commissioners, this extension is an invitation for qualified individuals who aspire to serve their community and uphold the scales of justice. "We encourage all qualified and interested individuals to submit their applications for the position," the announcement stated.
So mark your calendars, here's the rundown: applications will now no longer be accepted after 4 p.m. on October 7, 2025. For those who manage to quickly secure their spot, interviews are scheduled for 10 a.m. on October 22 during the Committee Meeting under General Government. The final step, the appointment process, will get underway at the Commission Meeting on October 27 at 3 p.m.
