Shrewsbury has had its share of crime activities recently, as detailed in the police department's latest weekly crime report. A notable incident involved a "bourbon booster" caught on camera on October 21, with the footage showcasing a clear image of the suspect and their vehicle. Identified by the authorities, the suspect is now being pursued for a shoplifting event that occurred in the 7200 block of Watson Road, where numerous bottles of alcohol were taken according to the City of Shrewsbury official report.
In a separate incident on October 22, officers responded to a different business on the same block for a shoplifting in progress. A woman, attempting to leave the store with over $1,200 in stolen merchandise, was apprehended. Modern technology prevailed as the officers were quickly able to identify her through fingerprints after she refused to reveal her identity, and she was subsequently arrested for felony stealing. As she exited the store, the police also discovered what they suspected were drugs and paraphernalia, which solidified her charges considering her past convictions related to theft.
Shrewsbury police had a busy week overall, responding to a variety of other calls ranging from auto accidents to suspicious activities. According to their report, from October 20 to 26, they responded to 12 auto accidents, managed 2 suspicious activity calls, and addressed 7 theft calls. On top of this, they assisted the Fire Department on 33 calls and executed 26 traffic stops, which included heightened enforcement in "problems areas," as mentioned on the City of Shrewsbury website. It seems that the officers' hands were full as they continuously worked to maintain the peace and security of the area.
