Commuters in the St. Charles Parish area should prepare for significant disruptions over the next few weeks. Starting October 6, Sealevel Construction has initiated a full road closure at CC Road for the construction of the Montz No. 1 pump station. The reason behind the closure is the driving of battered piles, which necessitates the crane boom's presence directly over the roadway, posing a safety hazard to vehicles. The closure is expected to last until November 21, as Sealevel adheres to the DOTD permit-approved closure details and signage, as per St. Charles Parish.
In addition to the closure on CC Road, residents should note that Jonathan Street in Destrehan is off-limits to general traffic until further notice. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, the closure has been extended and now, emergency traffic can use Bunge’s heavy haul road to access Noel Street in the rear of the facility to circumvent Lorraine Street. This modification ensures that emergency vehicles can still navigate the area despite the closures.
The construction work continues to squeeze traffic flow in other parts of the Parish as well. Road construction prompts the obstruction of Ormond Center Court in Destrehan from 150 Ormond Center Court—near Reginelli's—to 3001 Ormond Blvd, the location of Buddy's Frostop. Motorists looking to travel through this zone will need to utilize a designated detour until further notice. This change is part of the ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure but has resulted in a temporary inconvenience for those who frequent these local landmarks.
