The bond between education and community was celebrated as the Socorro Independent School District (SISD) hosted El Paso Community College (EPCC) Night, a testament to a longstanding collaboration aimed at enhancing educational opportunities. Held at the Student Activity Complexes (SAC) on October 17, the event was graced by the presence of EPCC President Dr. William Serrata, his son Nathan associated with EPCC Recruitment, alongside spirited cheerleaders and mascot Tejano Jack to acknowledge a partnership that spans decades.
Embarking on a journey back in 2006, SISD broke new ground by introducing the first Early College High School (ECHS), Mission ECHS, facilitating access to college-level courses and pathways to post-secondary success. This innovative model has now found its way into every campus within the district according to EPCC News, today, each SISD school prides an Early College program, opening doors, and creating a robust bridge between high school and college for countless students.
EPCC's commitment, however, doesn't stop at academic programming; it extends into the heart of community involvement by being the major sponsor of all events at the SAC for more than a decade. The shared goal of EPCC and SISD is to nurture a bright future for students by providing them not only with superior educational infrastructure but also with the substantial, tangible support needed to thrive in the complex tapestry of modern academia and beyond.
