As the jack-o'-lanterns start to adorn the porches of South Dade, Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee is spearheading a plethora of festive events for the whole family to relish, with the District 9 Halloween Community Tour already underway from October 17 through October 31. Miami-Dade County's announcement declared the series of gatherings promising music, games, and a treasure trove of treats including candy bags, a pizza party, and a kids' fun zone for the little ghouls and goblins seeking revelry.
Stretching across seven South Dade venues, the community tour forges spaces of joy and connection within these neighborhood verandas, bridges the contemporaneity of city life with the quaint charm of community gathering—the meeting grounds will travel from parks to churches. From the leaf-laden paths of JL (Joe) and Enid W. Demps Park to the sweeping embrace of Greater St. Matthews Holiness Church, families have multiple opportunities to indulge in Halloween merriment. Communities are invited to connect through shared experiences at these various locations, securing memories in the assemblage of fall celebration.
In the interest of ensuring access and convenience for the attendees, the locations and times for the scheduled events are clearly outlined. Events kicked off at JL (Joe) and Enid W. Demps Park on October 17 and will find their conclusion on Halloween night, October 31, with three simultaneous celebrations across distinct venues: Greater St. Matthews Holiness Church, Sgt. Joseph Delancy Park (Second Baptist Church), and Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church, all beginning at 5 p.m. and offering up till 9:30 p.m. of fun-oriented diversions. Wilbur B Bell Park is set to host the coming attraction tomorrow, while Naranja Park prepares its welcoming on Saturday, as detailed by the county's website.
