A somber cloud shrouds a section of Southeast Portland following a shooting that claimed the life of an adult male this past weekend. According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers were dispatched to SE 142/Division upon receiving reports of gunfire yesterday, just after 5 PM.
Upon arrival at the scene, police found a man with critical injuries. First responders rendered trauma first aid before the victim was urgently taken to a local hospital. Despite all efforts by medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, as the perpetrators fled before authorities arrived, and no arrests were immediately made following the incident. The deceased's identity is being withheld until proper notifications can be made.
Detectives from the Portland Police Homicide Unit are currently investigating what led up to the fatal shooting. In the meantime, traffic flow has been disrupted; westbound Southeast Division Street between Southeast 145th Avenue and Southeast 141st Avenue is blocked off as part of the active crime scene investigation. The closure is expected to impact local traffic, and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes where possible.
