Springfield's police department had a busy Sunday morning as they recovered a stolen motorcycle which led them to an illegal firearm and heroin. According to a news release by the City of Springfield, 45-year-old Roberto Falcon was arrested on multiple charges following the seizure.
Responding to the report of a stolen motorcycle on Worthington Street, officers received a snapshot assistance from the Springfield Police Real-Time Analysis Center. After arriving, subjects scattered into a nearby building with the officers hot on their heels. One of the subjects, found attempting to make an escape from an apartment, was Falcon. Police managed to find the motorcycle, checks having provided crucial leads to the apprehension.
In the process of sweeping the building, the officers stumbled upon a magazine for a firearm on the staircase and noticed a door standing open to one of the apartments. Inside, they confronted Falcon, who was found with the loaded firearm that was minus its magazine and four bags of heroin. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant. Another individual, who was also identified at the scene, was later released.
Last year, Falcon had run-ins with the law, convicted of similar offenses related to firearm and drug trafficking charges. This time around, his charges include receiving a stolen motor vehicle, armed breaking, and entering daytime for a felony, along with a string of firearm and drug-related violations. With the recovery of the firearm loaded with a single round, and with no magazine attached, was indicative of the serious nature of the offenses.
With this incident, Falcon faces a lengthy list of charges that reflect the gravity of carrying illegal firearms and drugs. These charges included carrying a firearm without a license for the second time, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a Class A drug, among others. Details surrounding the case are still unfolding, and the Springfield Police Department continues its investigations.
