St. Charles Parish has approved plans for a new boat launch in Des Allemands, marking a significant addition to local recreation. Parish President Matthew Jewell and the Parish Council announced the project this week, which will include a dual-bay launch, nearly 100 parking spaces, restrooms, and two pavilions equipped for fish cleaning and seating, as per the St. Charles Parish government website.
According to a statement from Jewell, the project has been long anticipated by residents and local sportsmen. The launch site is located on land donated by Chevron U.S.A. in 2021, part of a 108-acre property given to the parish. Funding for the $4.9 million construction will come from the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) and the RESTORE Act, with related infrastructure supported by the Lafourche Basin Levee District Sunset Levee Lift project.
Cycle Construction Company, LLC received the contract for the build, based on designs by Duplantis Design Group, PC. Construction is scheduled to begin in January 2026 and expected to conclude by early 2027.
