Attention St. Louis drivers, if you're a frequent traveler on eastbound Interstate 44 and northbound Interstate 55, take note of some important traffic news. According to an announcement from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the ramp connecting eastbound I-44 to northbound I-55 is slated for an overnight closure next Monday, October 6. The shutdown is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and is for pavement repair work to be carried out on the ramp.
MoDOT has prepared a detour for affected motorists, which involves being redirected onto the southbound lanes of I-55 to Arsenal (Exit 206C) and then back onto to northbound I-55. Although any closure can be a bit of a headache for drivers, the good news is that the disruption won't be a long one. According to MoDOT's website, "The ramp will reopen Tuesday, October 7, by 5 a.m." – so plan your Monday night commutes accordingly.
As the St. Louis region continues to maintain and improve its vital transportation infrastructure, temporary closures such as this serve as a reminder of the ongoing work to keep roadways safe and functional. MoDOT advises drivers to stay informed of road conditions, traffic alerts, and further updates by checking their website or signing up for notifications.
