Travelers and local motorists in Northern Arizona can now enjoy a smoother ride along State Route 377, following the completion of a $7.3 million pavement rehabilitation project by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT). Spanning 20 miles of highway real estate, this key connector between Interstate 40 at Holbrook and Heber-Overgaard has undergone significant surface treatments, including chip seal and microsurface applications—from State Route 77 near Holbrook to milepost 13 northeast of State Route 277—as well as targeted spot pavement repairs.
The project, which kicked off on August 4, was designed to both improve the driving experience and extend the lifespan of the pavement. ADOT was able to quickly complete the work, taking measures to minimize travel disruption, such as avoiding full daytime closures and providing alternative routes via SR 77 and SR 277 through Snowflake. Even weekend travelers were spared from the hassle, as the work schedule carefully excluded Saturdays and Sundays.
"This is another way ADOT works to safely connect people and empower the economy across Arizona, in this case on a main route between I-40 and Central Arizona," states an update from the agency.
