The Josey Ranch Lake Library is transforming into an Enchanted Library for a night of wonder. Scheduled for Friday, November 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at 1700 Keller Springs Road, this family-friendly event is a blend of free activities, games, crafts, and even a touch of magic. Visitors can look forward to crafting dragon eggs, royal crowns, and engaging in themed scavenger hunts.
While the escapades are catered to all ages, certain attractions are specifically designed with teens and adults in mind – including a fantasy-inspired escape room paralleling the whimsical plight of Alice in her wonderland. Patrons can also expect a trivia contest, helmed by the Library's Teen Advisory Council. According to the City of Carrollton's official announcement, they can "test if they're a fantasy wizard." For those enthralled by the world of Oz, photo ops with Glinda and Elphaba are on the schedule between 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Ticketed events, featuring a show by Choo Choo the Magician and two role-playing game sessions titled "honey heist," will ensure attendees are not short on entertainment. To complete the dive into creativity, a local artist will conduct dragon sketching lessons, with sessions planned at 5:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. Those planning to attend should arrive early, as ticket pickup commences before the activities—inside the Library.
In keeping with the fairytale spirit, dressing up is a celebrated part of the event. Donning attire befitting knights, princesses, witches, or wizards isn't just accepted; it's applauded. "Enchanted Library is a celebration of everything that is magical and fantastical for all ages," Youth Services Librarian, Melissa Neybert, told the City of Carrollton, "It’s really taken off as the signature fall event for the Carrollton Public Library, and we invite everyone to bring the whole family to unlock the magic and enjoy."
The event, which promises to be sensory-friendly, will offer coloring options, sensory toys, and noise-canceling headphones for those needing a tranquil respite from the excitement. Food snacks, along with craft materials, will be provided—though only while supplies last. Registration for the Escape Room begins on the day of the event, November 21, at 10 a.m., available in-person, on the event website, or via phone at 972-466-4800.
