The Walktober Challenge, hosted by the City of Arlington's ACTIV Center, is calling on residents aged 50 and up to get walking. According to the City of Arlington, participants are encouraged to walk at least 40 days from October 1 to November 30.

This isn't just an ordinary stroll around the block. Walktober offers a variety of scenic routes and activities to keep those legs moving. With Arlington boasting 99 city parks, the chances to explore on foot are virtually limitless, or you know, just hoof it through your neighborhood. Either way, the ACTIV Center says, "every step counts."

For those who like an official start line, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross will be putting his best foot forward for the Walktober Kickoff Event on Oct. 1. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the ACTIV Center, located at 2061 W. Green Oaks Blvd. walkers can join Ross for a jaunt on the outdoor trail, alongside the opportunity to dive into games, and food.
