Motorists in Summit County should brace for delays as the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced a significant closure for bridge repairs. Starting today, October 14, at 1 p.m., the SR 82 bridge just east of Riverview Rd. over the Cuyahoga Valley will be shut down to traffic. ODOT anticipates the closure will last until mid-November as crews work diligently to restore and reinforce the aging infrastructure.
For those who frequently traverse this section of SR 82, a detour route has been established by ODOT, which will redirect traffic via SR 8, I-271, and then onto I-77, the detour is designed to minimize the interruption to daily commutes, however, with such a significant thoroughfare being out of service, drivers should expect some additional travel time and are encouraged to plan accordingly, furthermore, local residents and businesses accustomed to the constant flow of vehicles may experience not just quieter streets but potentially reduced footfall as the region adapts to this temporary change in traffic patterns.
