The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) is investigating a deputy-involved shooting in Tipton County that left one man in critical condition. The incident occurred Monday afternoon in Drummonds, following a reported domestic dispute between two brothers. According to Action News 5, the altercation escalated into violence around 4 p.m. on the 7600 block of Richardson Landing Road.

Authorities say a brief foot chase ensued as deputies responded to the scene, ending near a mobile home on the property. It was there that a deputy discharged their weapon at one of the men involved. The motive and sequence of events leading to the shooting remain under investigation, as WREG reports.

Residents in the area described a large law enforcement response, including multiple patrol cars, emergency medical services, and fire personnel. Tipton County Sheriff Shannon Beasley confirmed the involvement of several agencies and stated that the TBI was called to the scene at the request of District Attorney Mark Davidson, in accordance with standard protocol for officer-involved shootings.

Per Local Memphis, the man who was shot was transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition. Sheriff Beasley confirmed that no deputies were injured during the incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The TBI will continue its investigation and present its findings to the district attorney general for review.
