A north Phoenix neighborhood was the scene of a tragic event on Tuesday night as a teenage boy lost his life to a shooting incident. According to azfamily.com, police were summoned around 9:30 p.m. to the area near 12th Street and Bell Road where they discovered a 17-year-old victim, Marki Terril Anthony, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite being quickly transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, he was later pronounced dead.
Details remain sparse as investigators are trying to piece together the circumstances that led to the deadly shooting. As of now, no suspects have been apprehended, and authorities are working diligently to find anyone who might have witnessed the event or possess surveillance footage that could shed light on the situation. Phoenix Police officers are urged to extensively canvas the neighborhood and collect as much evidence as possible as they have not yet established a motive for the crime.
In a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix, Sgt. Lorraine Fernandez of the Phoenix Police mentioned that “Homicide detectives responded to assume the investigation and process the scene. Detectives located a shooting scene and canvassed the area for witnesses and surveillance video. The Office of the Medical Examiner responded and took custody of Marki’s remains, results are pending a postmortem examination.” The community thus remains on edge, awaiting answers and a breakthrough in the case.
