A deadly shooting outside the Forest Park Apartments in Bellevue has resulted in the death of 17-year-old Ja’Quan Nolan and left another man wounded. The Metro Nashville Police Department responded to the incident near Highway 70 South on Saturday night at about 10:20 p.m., as reported by WSMV.
The violence erupted following a physical altercation between two females, according to witness statements obtained by MNPD. Gunfire ensued between the two parties, shortly after which both assailants fled the scene. The MNPD disclosed that Nolan had been visiting friends when the shooting occurred and was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 24-year-old man sustained a graze wound to the chest. Despite his injury, the man was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant, reports WKRN.
Homicide detectives are now pursuing "strong leads" in an effort to identify those responsible for the gunfire. Metro police are urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to contribute to the ongoing investigation by calling Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers have the option to remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
This latest incident marks the second fatal shooting at the complex this week, raising significant safety concerns within the community. Earlier in the week, a 20-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly killing her 62-year-old boyfriend at the same apartment complex.
