A 17-year-old lost his life following a motorcycle crash on Bangerter Highway in Bluffdale, as reported by numerous local news outlets. The fatal incident occurred when the teen's motorcycle struck a crash attenuator on the eastbound ramp to Bangerter Highway at 2700 West around 7:00 p.m. FOX 13 has confirmed that eastbound traffic was shut down following the collision.
Details from KSL indicate that the crash took place inside a construction zone. Eyewitness accounts suggest that the teenager was attempting to overtake another vehicle by using a section that was cordoned off to the public. Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Danny Allen mentioned that the investigation into the crash is continuing, and it was anticipated that the eastbound lanes of the highway would remain closed for a few hours.
As a result of the crash, eastbound traffic was diverted onto 2700 West, causing significant delays in the area, according to a social media statement shared by the Utah Highway Patrol. This diversion and subsequent congestion were echoed in the coverage by KUTV, which also stated that Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander confirmed the closure of all eastbound traffic on Bangerter, which will be for several hours for the investigation.
