A teenage suspect has been taken into custody related to a shooting incident aboard a BART train last month. The 15-year-old was arrested in connection with the September 16 event, which resulted in a 16-year-old victim suffering non-life-threatening injuries. According to BART, the charges filed include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and the willful discharge of a firearm, with a charging packet submitted to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. The identity of the juvenile suspect has not been released, and this continues to be an active investigation.
The shooting occurred as the northbound train approached the Fruitvale Station around 7:30 PM. Following the incident, the victim was transported to a hospital and has been reported to be in stable condition. BART PD also identified and cleared a person of interest that same night.
