Two 17-year-olds have been arrested following an attempted robbery that escalated into a shooting in Kissimmee, a recent incident that highlights the ongoing concerns around youth violence and crime in Osceola County. According to the ClickOrlando report, the juveniles, Jahvon Lawrence and Caden Zimish, are accused of attempting to steal THC cartridges from another teen on Oct. 6, an event culminating in the victim sustaining gunshot wounds and being admitted to Poinciana Medical Center for treatment.
As detailed by the Osceola County Sheriff's Office, the altercation took place in the area of Bonnet Creek Place in Kissimmee. The cartridges, typically used in vape pens, became a dangerous pivot point in the interaction between the teens. It was during the robbery attempt, the victim, while being shot, was treated and later recovered at the medical facility. Both suspects face charges related to attempted armed robbery with a firearm, and Lawrence has an additional charge of attempted murder laid against him.
Following investigative proceedings, the sheriff's office issued arrest warrants, which led to the detention of the two suspects. In a statement obtained by WFTV, the arrest was executed without incident yesterday, and the teens were transported to the Orange County Juvenile Assessment Center. This allows for a juvenile suspect, one that can be held pending further judicial actions, to be housed integrally within the confines of legal processes meant for minors.
