Commuters in Terrebonne Parish are advised of a temporary closure of the LA 56/Boudreaux Canal Swing Bridge due to a mechanical malfunction in the bridge’s hydraulic system. According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the hydraulic cylinder has been removed for repair at a local facility.
Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development recommends motorists use LA 57 as a detour while repairs are underway. The agency expects the bridge to reopen to vehicular traffic by the morning of Friday, October 24, following reinstallation and testing of the repaired component.
Marine traffic remains unaffected, with boats and other watercraft still permitted to pass through the Boudreaux Canal. Repair crews are working to restore the bridge’s full operation as soon as possible to ensure continued connectivity within Terrebonne Parish.
