Three men have been apprehended and are facing charges for a series of jewelry store burglaries across the Valley, according to officials. The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) reported that the break-ins, which targeted various establishments, revealed a pattern of late-night thefts and a trail of evidence leading to the suspects.

Details about the investigation were shared after the first burglary took place at a Sun City jewelry store on August 14. According to FOX 10 Phoenix, two individuals forcibly entered the store and smashed display cases before hastily fleeing with stolen goods. In the midst of their rushed escape, they inadvertently left behind DNA evidence, which MCSO stated it used to identify 63-year-old Gerard Segers as a participant in the heist.

Additional footage from a September 6 burglary at Litchfield Fine Jewelers assisted in linking the crimes. Fingerprint evidence at that scene matched Segers, and surveillance also captured a black Volkswagen EOS, which was later tracked to a Phoenix residence. As the investigation continued, GPS tracking placed the vehicle at another burglary on September 24 at Douglas Diamonds in Phoenix.

A coordinated effort by the SWAT and detectives led to the execution of a search warrant at the identified Phoenix home. According to KTAR, this raid resulted in the detention of the trio, including Segers, 62-year-old Alexander Townsend, and 57-year-old Eric Waller. Recovered at the premises were items matching descriptions of stolen jewelry, burglary equipment, clothing consistent with what was seen in surveillance tapes, and additional DNA evidence.

The suspects were then booked into Maricopa County Jail, with the laundry list of retrieved items underscoring the extent of their alleged criminal activities. "They busted through the front door, the front glass, and they came around and smashed all three cases, which there was hardly anything in there, we put everything away," John Mora, owner of Gold and Gems Unique, told FOX 10 Phoenix in a statement. Mora's recount of the events highlighted the quick and calamitous nature of the assault on his family's store.
