An investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office has led to the arrest of two Statesville men, Kyo Te Xiong, aged 21, and Nicholas Allen Salkill, aged 22, on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), as reported by WCNC. The CyberTipline of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) triggered both investigations in early September, leading to the subsequent findings and criminal charges.
According to the QC News, detailed scrutiny of social media revealed that Xiong was reportedly in possession of CSAM, while further information obtained by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office suggested that Salkill may have used the Discord platform to download such material, Salkill is currently held on a $100,000 bond following his arrest on October 14 and faces three counts of felony 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor plus two counts of felony 3rd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Xiong, who was taken into custody on October 17, faces one count of felony 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor along with three counts of felony 3rd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, carrying a bond of $75,000, as WHKY details. His social media accounts were searched pursuant to a search warrant that confirmed the presence of CSAM.
Both cases are active, with Iredell County officials warning that additional charges may be forthcoming as these investigations progress, and as the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office digs deeper into the digital trails left by those charged with such heavy, sobering accusations, a court date has been scheduled for Xiong on November 4, underscoring the ongoing nature of these legal proceedings and the painstaking work yet to unfold to bring justice in these disturbing matters.
