Two individuals are now in custody, accused in connection to a shooting incident in Mattapan that left one person injured last month. According to the Boston Police Department, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force apprehended 26-year-old Deshawn Grayson of Boston on Tuesday, near 354 East Eighth Street. Grayson, facing multiple charges including illegal firearm possession and assault, is slated for arraignment in South Boston District Court.
Arrested earlier this month was Tyrece Tennyson-Young, also 26, from Dorchester. Tennyson-Young, wanted on similar charges to Grayson, was taken into custody on the morning of October 7, in the vicinity of 1062 Washington Street, Dorchester. With a criminal warrant out of Dorchester District Court, he has since been arraigned, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
The serious charges against both men stem from an incident on September 22, where Boston Police were called to 37 Temple Street just before 11 PM after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found an individual suffering from gunshot wounds who was promptly transported to a local hospital, and thankfully, the injuries were not life-threatening, as detailed by the Boston Police Department.
Details on the case, as released in a statement obtained by Boston Police, highlight a litany of weapons charges against both suspects. These include the illegal carrying and discharge of a firearm, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a large capacity feeding device, among others, as per the Boston Police Department.
