The Gordon and Helen Hughes Taylor Endowed Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine, and a professor, Byrd is now joining the ranks of NAM's prestigious membership.

Byrd's induction is, indeed, noteworthy considering NAM's current roster of over 2,500 members, which now includes more than 200 esteemed international figures. The breadth of Byrd’s work, particularly in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), is well-documented and has led to what many consider game-changing research that has altered treatment standards.
