On I-40 in Loudon County, lane closures will begin on Friday at mile marker 363, where the bridge crosses Paw Paw Plains Road near Exit 364 for Lenoir City/US 321. The interstate will be reduced to a single lane in both directions during the repairs, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
The restrictions will remain in place around the clock until the repairs are expected to be finished at daybreak on October 6. The final round of closures is planned for October 17, weather permitting. Motorists may experience delays while the work is underway, as reported by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Tennessee Department of Transportation officials advise drivers to be careful near highway work zones. Drivers can check road construction updates on the TDOT SmartWay system or by calling the 511 travel hotline. Avoid using phones while driving and check travel conditions before leaving to plan your route.
