USU Eastern recently teamed up with Helper Saturday Vibes, crowning the last of a popular summer event series with a blend of academics, athletics, and local culture. The cooperative event took place on Sept. 27 on Helper's historic Main Street, where the academic and the festive shook hands to provide a rich, community-driven experience.

According to USU Today, various departments from USU Eastern took the opportunity to quite literally set up shop on the street. They demonstrated their projects and hands-on programs, aiming to not only showcase the educational opportunities available but also to instantly engage with attendees through creative displays. The athletic department, too, wasn't far behind in showcasing its talents, with the USU Eastern Cheer Team, Women’s Basketball Team, and Men’s Basketball Team infusing energy into the vibe, actively connecting with community members through games and activities.

The family-oriented night not only featured representatives from the university but also local food trucks, vendors, and live music, a signature mix that has shaped Helper Saturday Vibes into a sought-after local tradition throughout the summer. Despite the rainy weather of the night, there was no dampening the collective spirit of those gathered families, alumni, students, and teachers all came together to savour the last warmth of summer conviviality.

The collaboration between USU Eastern and the event underscored the university's commitment "to supporting community events that bring people together, encourage student involvement and highlight the value of higher education," as noted by USU Today. Such events are critical for nurturing local traditions while simultaneously strengthening the university’s bond with Carbon County.
