
Early morning chaos erupted at a local Buc-ee's in Ennis when a vehicle slammed into a pedestrian and building. The incident, which took place around 5:00 AM, resulted in two individuals being hospitalized. A maroon 2003 Dodge Caravan, driven by a man in his 20s from Hubbard, TX, veered into the Buc-ee’s southwest entrance, hitting a pedestrian before coming to a halt, as reported by the Ennis Police Department via a social media post.
The driver, after striking the pedestrian, tragically attempted to take his own life using a firearm. "The pedestrian, a white female in her 30s from Oklahoma, was passing through Ennis and was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," the Ennis Police Department said, expressing their thoughts are with the families involved. The driver, on the other hand, sustained critical injuries and was also taken to the hospital. The incident did not, result in any other injuries at the time of the report.
In response, local law enforcement and emergency services rapidly converged on the scene. According to the Ennis Police Department's statement, appreciation was voiced for the "Ennis Police Officers, Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputies, Department of Public Safety Officers, Ennis Fire Department, Allegiance Emergency Services, and the staff at Buc-ee's for their quick response to this tragic and shocking event."
