Chaos erupted on the north side of Indianapolis this past Saturday when a vehicle, en route through an improbable obstacle course, found its terminus inside a local apartment. The Indianapolis Fire Department responded to the incident at approximately 1:05 p.m. in the 2000 block of Amerherst Drive, as reported by WISH-TV. The area is known to be a quiet enclave just shy of West 71st Street.
Witnesses, likely confounded by the scene unfolding before them, described the vehicle's journey: it initially catapulted from a parking lot, made its way hastily over a hill, blitzed through a set of bushes, and continued its path rolling over a second parking lot, before finally breaching a wooden utilities fence and crashing into the apartment building. According to a FOX59 report, the driver miraculously emerged from the wreckage without the need for hospitalization and was released after an on-scene checkup by medics.
Thankfully, the tenant of the unit was not present when the car became an unintended fixture of their apartment. In the aftermath, a wrecker was tasked with the duty to extract the vehicle from the wreckage, allowing IFD's structure collapse team to shore up the damages with critical supports. The efforts to provide a reprieve to the affected resident are ongoing, as reported by WTHR, with the management team working to find temporary shelter for the individual displaced by this stroke of misfortune.
