A Ventura man caught in an FBI sting is now facing a litany of charges after allegedly engaging in conversations of a sexual nature with an undercover agent whom he believed was a minor. The agent, who was actually with the FBI's Ventura Child Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force, posed as both a father and a 12-year-old daughter, managing to ensnare Trevor Lyons, 41, through digital deception.
According to details from an KTLA report, Lyons communicated over Kik and Telegram with the agent who presented as "UC Dad," and later spoke directly to the "daughter" on Discord, during which his actions raised to the level of offering instructions for sexual acts and sending explicit material, the indictment alleges Lyons sent a sexually explicit photo and video with a request for reciprocation, this leading to his arrest on October 20 after a grand jury indictment.
In a nine-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury, which was detailed by an FBI Los Angeles X Post, Lyons is charged with sexual exploitation, attempted exploitation, attempted enticement, and distribution of child pornography, with a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted on all counts. Law enforcement seized several electronic devices from Lyons, including an iPhone 16, an iPad, and a Samsung Galaxy flip phone, according to court documents.

The investigation into Lyons uncovered a history of allegedly distributing child pornography and coercing a minor into sexually explicit acts in May 2020, the explicit materials Lyons allegedly produced and distributed stretched from around May 2020 to December 2024, culminating in the recent operation that also led to the arrest of six other individuals in Ventura County for related crimes, as detailed by the Los Angeles Times report.
The FBI's Ventura Child Exploitation Human Trafficking Task Force, a collaborative effort between the FBI and local enforcement agencies, has emphasized the importance of such operations in protecting children from exploitation and bringing offenders to justice. Lyons, who went by various online usernames including Defi Samurai, Carly, and Herbdoc, now awaits legal proceedings to determine the outcome of the allegations against him.
