
A confrontation on the Bishop Ford Freeway escalated into gunfire, leaving one person seriously injured. According to FOX 32 Chicago, the incident occurred when a motorist's vehicle broke down on I-94 near 159th Street. The driver pulled over onto the freeway's right shoulder, and not long after, Valencia Carwell, who was reported to have known the victim, arrived on the scene.
An altercation ensued between the two, resulting in Carwell allegedly firing multiple shots at the victim. The individual suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. CBS News Chicago states that the shooting arose from a fight that began around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
Illinois State Police responded promptly to the incident, finding Carwell armed with a gun at the scene. She was immediately taken into custody. As per the charges laid out by authorities, Carwell faces one count each of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated domestic battery. Her actions have now landed her in the crosshairs of serious legal consequences, as she remains held until her next court appearance.
