The wave of excitement is palpable as the World Wake Surf Championship brings together nearly 100 competitors from across the globe, convening for the first time in Arizona's Lake Pleasant. The competition kicked off with the first rounds on October 8 at Scorpion Bay Marina, as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix. The event continues through October 9, weaving together athletes eager to grasp the world championship title.

Mike Viland, an announcer and director for the Competitive Wake Surf Association, acknowledged to FOX 10 Phoenix the growing popularity of wakeboarding, saying, "Wakeboarding is the fastest growing water sport out there, and we want to get a lot of people involved." Participants have come to Arizona to challenge themselves and others, with many experiencing the state and Lake Pleasant for the first time. As Iris Vola of Paris told FOX 10 Phoenix, "Oh my God, the feeling is amazing. I did my best, so I am really happy with that, and this state, Lake Pleasant, is so lovely."

This gathering of wake surfers is not merely a contest but a celebration of freedom and joy embodied in the sport. Competitors, both young and experienced, share a camaraderie that transcends the competitive spirit. "I just love progressing, learning new tricks, doing it with my peers, whatever it is," one competitor named Payson expressed in an interview with FOX 10 Phoenix. From the shores of Taiwan to the waves of Arizona, Dexter summed up the shared sentiment, "To have the chance to compete with friends and riders, have the chance to win, and all these opportunities are good to have fun."

Meanwhile, the prestigious 2025 Centurion World Wake Surfing Championships concluded earlier this month at Lake Silver in Winter Haven, Florida. According to Alliance Wake, the event was presented by GM Marine and marked the 29th Annual Centurion World Wake Surfing Championship. Adding to the excitement, the competition coincided with the 50th anniversary of Centurion Boats. Operation Wake Surf initiated the event with a Salute to Service Day on October 1, honoring military veterans and active-duty members, first responders, and frontline workers.

For enthusiasts unable to attend in person, the Centurion World Wake Surfing Championships was live-streamed, with fans able to follow the action via multiple platforms like the event’s website, YouTube, and the Rideline App. Besides the action on the water, the event also featured food and boating vendors, as well as opportunities for families to try out the boats themselves during the Water Proof Tour demo days. The 2025 WWSC became a reality thanks to the effort of the WWA and sponsors like Operation Wake Surf, Roswell, Boatmate, GatorStep, SewLong, GM Marine, Wetsounds, and PCM, highlighted by Alliance Wake.
