Six Ysleta ISD high school marching bands made a significant stride in the UIL state championship race, clinching Division I "Superior" ratings at the regional contest last Saturday and progressing to the Area competition in their respective classes. According to Ysleta ISD, Ysleta High School heads to the Class 4A Area contest, while Bel Air, Del Valle, Hanks, and Parkland high schools are set to compete in Class 5A, and Eastwood High School prepares for the Class 6A challenge.
The pursuit of the championship continues with Ysleta High School's Indian Marching Band, led by Drum Major Abril Chavarria and Flag Captains Brizia Enriquez, Isabella Mendez, Faith Leblancis, & Luis Castaneda, aiming to capture the judges' attention. They are slated to perform "From Manhattan to the Mountains: A Journey Home" at the Class 4A Area competition in Abilene, Texas, on October 25. Meanwhile, the Class 6A Area competition is set to feature Eastwood High School's Trooper Marching Band, known to dramatically showcase their talents with the show "Manta Ray," at the SISD Athletic Complex.
The momentum builds as the Class 5A competition unfurls on November 1 in Andrews, Texas. With precision and dedication, Bel Air High School's Big Red Pride Marching Band, Del Valle High School's Marching Band, Hanks High School's Silver Knight Marching Band, and Parkland High School's Matador Marching Band are poised to deliver their musical narratives ranging from the cunningly complex "4 of A Kind" to the spellbinding "Nightshade Serenade," the sophisticated "Suits," and the rhythmic "Trainlapse," each ensemble infusing their performances with their unique brand of showmanship.
