
A 15-year-old boy was struck and killed by an SUV on Saturday in Monroe County, Michigan. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Telegraph Road near Paree Street in Frenchtown Township. According to CBS News Detroit, the teen was walking along the white fog line on the side of the road when the collision took place.
A 31-year-old woman from Newport, identified as Mary Spurlock, was driving a white Dodge Journey when she struck a 15-year-old boy from Carleton who was walking with a 14-year-old friend. Spurlock stopped at a nearby gas station, believing she had hit “a non-fixed object,” and later called police after noticing damage to her vehicle. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said “Driver inattention” is being considered a factor in the crash, as per FOX 2 Detroit. The teen, who was wearing dark clothing, was taken to Corewell Trenton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Officials have not confirmed if the second boy was injured.
