A young man's life was abruptly ended in a shooting late last night in Dutchtown, an incident that has shaken the community and is now under investigation.

According to a report by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers from District 1 were called to the intersection of S. Grand and Meramec just before 11:30 PM on November 9, following reports of a shooting, when they got there they discovered a silver Toyota sedan and inside was a 22-year-old man shot, seated in the passenger side and was found to be unconscious and not breathing.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to a nearby hospital by emergency medical services but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead; his girlfriend, who was also at the scene, did not sustain injuries and she shared with the police that the actual shooting took place in the 3600 block of Dunnica, after which they drove to the location where the police found them.

Homicide detectives have since taken over the investigation of this fatal incident, with the department reaching out to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest, issuing a statement that anyone possessing details should contact the Homicide Division directly at 314-444-5371 or, for those wishing to remain anonymous and potentially receive a cash reward for information leading to a felony arrest, to get in touch with CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477), according to the department's notice.
