
El Paso Police have taken a 60-year-old man into custody following a shooting incident in West El Paso's Upper Valley neighborhood, affecting the community around the prestigious El Paso Country Club. The suspect, identified as Kevin Carl Welch, faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the early Sunday morning incident, as reported by the El Paso Times.
Authorities were called to the 200 block of Lombardy Avenue at around 5:30 a.m. On Sunday, a 59-year-old man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital, but his condition remains undisclosed, according to KFOX-TV. The investigation, spearheaded by the El Paso Police Department's Crimes Against Persons Unit, led to Welch's arrest later that day.
Initial reports from KTSM indicated that after the police had located the injured man, their investigation quickly focused on Welch as the shooter. He was subsequently taken into custody, facing serious charges for his alleged role in the shooting.
