A tragic incident unfolded early Sunday morning on Grand Avenue in Peoria, where a collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle claimed the life of 70-year-old Michael Anthony Bianco. According to ABC15, the accident occurred just before 7 a.m. near the intersection with Peoria Avenue, and investigators were quick to respond, shutting down Grand Avenue between 83rd and 84th avenues to assess the scene; impairment was not believed to be a contributing factor.
The motorcyclist, identified as Bianco, sustained critical injuries and succumbed after being taken to a local hospital, 12News reported, adding to the gravity of the situation. Peoria police further stated that two vehicles had been involved in the crash with the motorcycle, which had grave consequences for Bianco, leading to his untimely demise.
As a result of the investigation and emergency response, traffic was disrupted with westbound lanes of Grand Avenue closed at 83rd Avenue and eastbound traffic halted at 85th Avenue, per information from 12News. For those seeking alternate routes or real-time highway conditions, options were made available via ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information site, the AZ511 app, or the direct hotline.
Recovery from such events stretches beyond the immediate disarray of traffic patterns; after the necessary investigative process was carried out, Grand Avenue has reopened, restoring a semblance of order to the affected stretch of roadway, and to the community impacted by the loss of one of its members who departed suddenly, on a Sunday morning that began with no forewarning of such sorrowful tidings.
