City Chief Financial Officer Walter Person expressed confidence in Davis’s capabilities, noting, “Art Davis’ experience and dedication to public service make him a tremendous asset to our financial leadership team.” Person's appreciation for Davis's track record of strengthening fiscal operations suggests that his addition to the team will be instrumental in driving Memphis's financial strategies forward, as per the city's announcement.

Prior to his newest appointment, Davis has occupied leadership positions with a variety of Memphis institutions, including a near seven-year stint at the Memphis River Parks Partnership as Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer and as Acting Chief Executive Officer. He has also been a part of The Children’s Museum of Memphis, the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium and Fairgrounds, and Global Spectrum / Memphis Redbirds Baseball Foundation. His educational credentials include a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of Mississippi.
