According to the county's recent update, both parks and facilities under the department's purview will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, and Thursday, December 25, in observance of Christmas. So if you're looking to engage in some leisurely holiday activity, schedule it outside of these dates.
The closures are not extensive, however, as all locations will resume regular operations on Friday, December 26. But the brief pause in availability does not end there; another closure is scheduled for the beginning of 2026. Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department facilities will not open on Thursday, January 1, 2026, to mark the New Year. Additionally, those looking to enjoy the great outdoors on park grounds should plan to do so between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., as operating times will be reduced.
Normal hours will return swiftly after the New Year's observance, with facilities and parks reopening on Friday, January 2, 2026.
