Thanksgiving is approaching, and with it, adjusted holiday hours for Athens-Clarke County leisure activities and facilities. According to an announcement on the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government website, all Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services facilities and parks will be closed on Thursday, November 27, in observance of the holiday. This includes any buildings and indoor areas within the parks.
For those already formulating plans for post-Turkey Day celebrations, parks will be accessible for limited hours on Friday, November 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Despite the parks being open, buildings within these spaces will keep their doors shut for the day. Those looking to take a stroll or work off the Thanksgiving feast leftovers will have the daylight hours to do so.
Normal operations will resume promptly after the brief pause. Beginning November 29, all facilities will welcome the public back under their usual operating hours. This will be a return to normalcy for locals and visitors alike, following the Thanksgiving interlude.
