Residents of Atherton's Toyon Road were put on alert after an attempted home burglary occurred in broad daylight. Around 3:20 PM, a suspect tried to break into a house by shattering a window on the north side, a bold move at a time when many assume their homes are safe, according to the Atherton Police Department.
The suspect, an adult male, was approximately 5'8" to 5'10" tall with a stocky build, wearing all black attire, including a Nike baseball cap, medical mask, zip-up jacket, and pants. Though he tried to conceal his identity, he was caught on security cameras. The homeowner, watching through an indoor camera, confronted him remotely, prompting the man to flee. Police are still determining whether anything was stolen.
The incident has prompted neighbors to check their own security footage and support the ongoing investigation. Atherton Police are asking anyone in the area near Toyon Road to review their cameras and report anything unusual.
