Sen. RaShaun Kemp of Atlanta has announced a large-scale food and toy giveaway today to support Georgia families facing food insecurity. The event, organized in partnership with Feeding Georgia Families and Salem Bible Church, aims to assist those affected by potential reductions in SNAP benefits, which could impact about 1.4 million residents.
According to the Georgia State Senate Press Office, over 500 people have registered for the event—more than triple the expected turnout—highlighting the widespread need. Sen. Kemp also urged the governor to consider using part of the state’s $14.6 billion surplus to provide additional support for residents.
The giveaway will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at 2283 Baker Rd. NW in Atlanta and is open to the public. The senator’s office has requested that media representatives confirm attendance in advance by contacting [email protected].
