With the holiday season around the corner and cold weather driving people indoors, experts are reminding Nevada County residents to protect themselves against the flu. Reflecting on the flu season’s acceleration, Nevada County Public Health is strongly recommending that locals get their flu shots pronto. Whether you opt for the regular or the high-dose variety, your immune system will thank you for it, as reported by the county's official website.
Public Health in Nevada County isn't waiting around to see the flu take hold; they've proactively set up immunization clinics to ensure everyone has easy access to flu shots. November's your time to take action and, well, not to split hairs, but to not split your chances of catching the bug. Clinics are open on set days—second to fourth Thursdays of each month from 1 to 4 p.m. at 500 Crown Point Circle, and first and third Mondays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 10075 Levon Avenue.
For those who missed the free community clinics—where over 350 shots were dished out last October—fret not. While the community clinics have ended, getting vaccinated remains as convenient as ever. All you need to do is call Public Health at (530) 265-7049 or book an appointment with your local pharmacy or primary care doctor to schedule your flu shot. And guess what? The vaccine is still on the house while supplies last.
Still unsure about the whole flu shot shebang? Nevada County Public Health has your back with more information. You just have to visit their website—easy to remember, hard to forget—at nevadacountyca.gov/immunizations.
